Explorer Unit History
Flixton Explorer Scout Unit started at the launch of the Explorer Section in 2002.
At this time it was one of three Explorer Scout units in Urmston and District.
Scouts over the age of 14 years were able to select and Explorer Unit if they wished to continue Scouting.
In the beginning Flixton Explorer Scout Unit were made up of members from 1st Flixton and 8th Flixton.

Flixton Explorer Scout Unit has seen quite a few leaders. In the first year of forming, Flixton Explorer Scout Unit has seen four assistant leaders come and go, this is due to other commitments, however the E.S.L has remained the same since day one.
In 2005, Flixton Explorer Scout Unit celebrated their greatest triumph by winning the Greater Manchester West County Camping Competition.

Flixton Explorer Scout Unit is currently made up of Scouts from Flixton and Urmston Scout Groups and Urmston District Girl Guide groups
